Inane Words.

Tonight I hear the rain splash upon a broken pane
With it the voices of an image you long forgot come thrashing in-
but in vain.
I remember a few odd syllables you spoke once,
I remember the wordless conversation -
yet tonight you heave a sigh.

You're miles away from where I am,
You're better off with the distance I reckon
Yet you sigh and I know not why.

Below this ramshackle valley of hollow love,
Beyond this precarious sway of your touch -
You fear to say you dream of me too,
You fear to say you yearn for me too.
